The oval gear flow meter utilizes the principle in which two internally meshed oval-shaped gears rotate due to the flow of fluid. Since a fixed volume of fluid passes per rotation of the gear, it is a volumetric flow meter that accurately calculates the amount of fluid passing through the piping by measuring the number of rotations. With each rotation of the gear, fluid equivalent to a fixed space (volume) formed between the gear and the case wall moves and is discharged. By calculating the number of rotations of the gear and the discharge volume per rotation, the cumulative flow rate and instantaneous flow rate can be measured. It has the advantage of being able to accurately measure the flow rate of even high-viscosity liquids.
